Frequently asked questions
Mint's Printer and Card Reader
It can be one of two things:
- The printer/card reader is not ‘paired’ correctly via Bluetooth with your mobile device – see your instructions that came with your PDA phone to ensure it is paired correctly.
- Your Mint printer is out of paper or the paper isn’t being fed properly. Please call Mint’s Customer Support on 1300 761 811 if you are unable to correct the issue.
Call Mint on 1300 761 811 and we’ll go through a fault diagnosis process over the phone. If it is considered to be faulty, you’ll need to return the printer/card reader to us. If it is covered under the warranty we’ll arrange to fix and return it to you asap. If it’s not covered by the warranty, you can purchase a new printer, and we have some at discounted rates.
You should only use the thermal paper supplied by Mint. You can purchase more, by going to our website: www.mint-wireless.com. Make sure that the paper tear is clean and not uneven. If it is uneven it can cause the printer/card reader to block up and not print.
Mint has various accessories for cleaning the Mint printer and these are available from our website: www.mint-wireless.com.
Don’t worry about this, it’s normal because it’s a thermal printer it uses heat to make the print on the paper.
As always with any battery, it depends on the amount of time your device is on and how often you use it. Unlike your mobile phone, you don’t need to have your Mint printer/card reader on all the time so one charge may last several weeks and your battery may not deplete until the end of your contract.
The battery is covered by a warranty in case it is faulty from the outset. You can also order replacement batteries from our website: www.mint-wireless.com.
Your Mint printer/card reader is covered under our warranty for the term of your subscription (12 or 24months). This covers you for any defects with the printer/card reader that might occur in ‘normal’ use. As is the case with most electrical items, you won’t be covered under the warranty if it is used negligently (refer to the full warranty for the full terms and exclusions of our warranty). There is a fee to purchase a new printer/card reader if it is found that the problem occurred through negligent usage. Further, if you purchase the printer outright, the warranty is 12 months.
If the card swipe isn’t working it’s most likely that the magnetic stripe on the credit card itself isn’t working. In this instance, the Mint software has a manual entry option, so you can type in the credit card number and send it off for approval.
