Mint Wireless aligned with data security best practice

Sydney Australia, 15/0708: Mint Wireless Limited is pleased to announce that it has achieved full compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) version 1. The requirements of the standard are set out by card issuers and financial institutions to ensure the protection of cardholder data and payment processing against theft, fraud and misuse.

Mint Wireless received full compliance following a comprehensive system audit and gap analysis, remediation audit and a range of vulnerability scans and penetration tests.

Mint Wireless' CEO, Alex Teoh commented that attaining compliance is a testament to the company's goal of ensuring the ongoing security of the Portable Payment System is in line with best-practice industry standards.

"Whilst we have now achieved full PCI compliance, our data security has always been robust, which was recognised by the testing entity. As an organisation we have embraced the benchmarking of security standards in the portable payments industry to protect our customers against fraudulent activity in the market.

"We are required to conduct ongoing annual audits and periodic reviews of Mint's processes and policies, so our customers can be confident that our systems will remain at the forefront of digital security," Mr. Teoh added.

Mike Ryan, director of Corporate Development at Vectra Corporation commented: "In 2007 credit card related fraud in Australia increased by nearly 21% over 2006 highlighting the need for compliance to the Payment Card Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a standard mandated by major credit card companies and their issuing banks for organisations that accept credit cards for payments.

Since its introduction in 2006 more than 800 Australian large and small businesses who value their brand and the importance of protecting credit card transactions have undertaken measures to comply with the PCI DSS."

Mr Ryan continued: "Mint Wireless is an excellent example of a small but rapidly growing organisation that recognises the importance of implementing the technology and business processes to protect customer credit card transactions. In June 2008 Mint achieved a significant milestone when it underwent an exhaustive audit and was certified by Vectra, a Qualified Security Assessor Company as being compliant with the PCI DSS."
